COSTA, Elis Regina da  y  BORUCHOVITCH, Evely. Learning Strategies of Primary Education Repetition Students. Psicol. pesq. [online]. 2010, vol.4, n.1, pp. 31-39. ISSN 1982-1247.

The goal of this research is to identify and compare learning strategies used by repeating and non-repeating students of elementary schools. The sample comprised 155 students, of whom 43.9% (68) had repeated at least once any grade level. Data were collected through a structured individual interview, which included a set of learning and studying hypothetical situations Results evinced that students who had already been retained in a school grade level had poorer, more ambiguous and less functional learning strategies when compared to their non repentant counterparts. It is recommended that data be further confirmed by future observational research which can in fact map more precisely the real actions of those who either fail or succeed in school.

Palabras clave : Learning strategy; retention; elementary school.
