The article focuses, initially, on the definition of effectiveness and efficiency, and the main features of the designs that assess the effectiveness of psychological interventions, such as clinical trials and meta-analysis. Next, the main problems related to complexity in developing research on the effectiveness of psychological interventions, based on studies that support evidence-based medicine are described. Finally, the author reports on international research on effective psychological interventions and their results, comparing theoretical approaches / interventions in various problems such as depression, anxiety, phobias, sexual disorders, among others.
