Abstract

PEREIRA, Sabrina Maura et al. Bibliometric Analysis of Studies about Social Phobia and Alcohol Use. Psicol. pesq. [online]. 2011, vol.5, n.2, pp. 168-178. ISSN 1982-1247.

Social Phobia or Social Anxiety Disorder is defined as an excessive and persistent fear of one or more social performance situations. This study sought to identify and describe articles published in Pubmed, PsycInfo and Web of Science databases from 2006 to 2009 by crossing the descriptors Social Phobia AND Alcohol. The result of the analysis of 37 articles showed different types of instruments and participants as well as a production predominantly centered in the U.S.A. Some studies also highlighted that social phobia preceded the use of alcohol. The relevance of further studies focusing on the understanding of the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis found in this association was verified.

Keywords : Social phobia; social anxiety disorder; alcohol; databases.
