AMBIEL, Rodolfo A. M.  and  NORONHA, Ana Paula Porto. Professional Choice Self-Efficacy: Theory, Research and Evaluation. Psicol. pesq. [online]. 2012, vol.6, n.2, pp. 171-178. ISSN 1982-1247.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5327/Z1982-12472012000200010.

This paper aims to present the concept of professional choice self-efficacy by discussing Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) and its application to the context of career decisions. It also addresses the course of its application in the field of career development in the broader context of Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT). The concept of professional choice self-efficacy is also explored, including several international studies. It is concluded that the construct, although lacking dissemination in Brazil, has had some space in national scientific discussions, and can become an important tool to understand, plan and evaluate the process of career choice.

Keywords : Vocational guidance; Social Cognitive Theory; career development; psychological assessment.
