Abstract

CARDOSO, Carolina de Resende Damas  and  MASSIMI, Marina. Edith Stein's Contributions to the Philosophical Foundation of Scientific Psychology. Psicol. pesq. [online]. 2013, vol.7, n.2, pp. 188-199. ISSN 1982-1247.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5327/Z1982-1247201300020007.

The article intends to present Edith Stein's contributions to the philosophical foundation of Psychology as a rigorous science of the subjectivity. Some relevant moments that situate the cradle of scientific Psychology as well as the emerging of Phenomenology are detached. Both disciplines arose from philosophical matters, and one of them refers to the concept of psychologism and the consequent naturalization of psychology. The phenomenological conception emerged in declared opposition to those movements. The figure of phenomenologist Edith Stein stands out due to her analyses of the object and the epistemological framing of Psychology. Based on the analysis of the essential structures of the human person, Stein offers a new conception of subjectivity, as well as analyses the scientific methodologies that could better apprehend such object.
