This paper aims to understand how parenting in same-sex couples is being investigated in scientific literature through a systematic review. Therefore, we selected 17 articles published between 2004 and 2014 in SciELO, Academic Search Premier PePSIC databases in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French, using homosexual parent OR same-sex parent OR homoparental as descriptors. Results indicate that the researches tries to answer how is parenting for same-sex couples from the heteronormative bias. Thus, the construction of homosexuality as pathology in previous decades and the permanence of this view hinder the review of such concepts at social level. Therefore the importance of studies that generate a new understanding of this population.
