Abstract

NEGREIRO, Fauston; SILVA, Carolina Fernanda Da Costa; SOUSA, Yamila Larisse Gomes de  and  SANTOS, Layane Bastos dos. Psychosocial analysis of school failure in youth and adult education. Psicol. pesq. [online]. 2017, vol.11, n.1, pp. 1-2. ISSN 1982-1247.  http://dx.doi.org/10.24879/201700110010066.

This study aims to identify determining factors for school failure experienced by students enrolled in Youth and Adult Education (EJA). 233 students participated in the 3rd and 4th cycle, mostly men (57.1%), with a mean age of 18 years (ranging from 15 to 54 years) from the coastal plain of the state of Piauí. A sociodemographic questionnaire and interview script were used, and the analysis was performed with Iramuteq® software, using the Descending Hierarchical Classification method. The results show economic and political factors, the precariousness of the Brazilian public educational structure, the absence of family support and a political-pedagogical project that considers the diversity of realities among students, among others, as responsible for school failure.

Keywords : School Failure; EJA; Psychosocial analysis.
