Abstract

BOARINI, Maria Lucia. Drugs in Adolescence: a challenge to health and education. Psicol. pesq. [online]. 2018, vol.12, n.2, pp. 57-67. ISSN 1982-1247.  http://dx.doi.org/10.24879/2018001200200175.

Given the current scenario on the use of licit and illicit drugs by youth, the goal of this study is to identify the theoretical-practical foundations that support the actions of mental health professionals and elementary school teachers in relation to illicit drug use and alcohol abuse among adolescents. To reach this, we interviewed ten mental health professionals and ten elementary school teachers in the municipality of Campo Mourão, state of Paraná, both working in the public system. The theoretical parameter of analysis was the historical-social implications in the process of construction of this phenomenon in their views. Our results indicate that professionals still believe in myths about drug use and alcohol abuse, which bring moralism and fear as background.
