International literature suggests that social anxiety symptoms in childhood may be associated with deficits in social skills and academic difficulties. The aim was to verify the correlation between indicators of child social anxiety and the repertoire of social skills and behavioral problems. Participants included 76 students, their teachers and parents, who responded to the Multidimensional Anxiety Scale for Children (MASC) and the Social Skills Rating System -Brazilian version (SSRS). Significant positive correlations were found only between the overall score of social skills obtained in the children’s self-assessment and the scores of global anxiety and social anxiety
