Abstract

FREIRES, Leogildo Alves et al. Estresse Acadêmico: Adaptação e evidências psicométricas de uma medida. Psicol. pesq. [online]. 2018, vol.12, n.3, pp. 22-32. ISSN 1982-1247.  http://dx.doi.org/10.24879/2018001200300532.

The academic stress is related to important outcomes in university context. Thus, the study aimed to investigate the psychometric properties of the Academic Stress Scale (ASS) through two studies. In study 1, 200 undergraduate students answered the ASS and demographic questions. A factorial exploratory analysis revelead one-factor solution and satisfactory reliability indexes. In addition, through item response theory, the items of ASS discriminate participants properly and require low and moderate levels of latent trait to be endorsed. In study 2, 207 undergraduate students answered to the same instruments. The previously one-factor solution of ASS was corroborated by a confirmatory factor analysis. In conclusion, the ASS presented satisfactory psychometric evidence and can be used in future investigations about academic stress in Brazil as a basis for actions towards psychological assistance to students.
