Abstract

ALEXANDRINO, Vanessa Porto  and  AQUINO, Fabíola de Souza Braz. Babies intentional communication skill: conceptions of early education professionals. Psicol. pesq. [online]. 2019, vol.13, n.2, pp. 169-190. ISSN 1982-1247.  http://dx.doi.org/10.34019/1982-1247.2019.V13.25813.

Studying the ability of intentional communication is important because of their interrelated relationships with overall child development. The objective of this study was to know and analyze the conceptions of nursery education professionals about the ability of intentional communication of infants in public contexts of early childhood education. Participants were four school psychologists, four teachers and seven monitors who answered a sociodemographic questionnaire and a semi-structured interview. The interview analysis followed the guidelines of Bardin's content categorization method. Most of the participants mentioned gestures and children's emotional expressions that denoted intentionality. It is reaffirmed that the knowledge of this ability, by education professionals, can help in the planning of activities that potentiate the relationships between infants and educators.
