Work engagement is related with cognitive and effective aspects, collaborating in the connections between workers and their activities. This study aimed to show the validity of the scale (UWES-9) by means of internal structure analysis, mean-variance between groups and convergent variables. The sample consisted of 528 Public Basic Education teachers from the state of Goiás. The testing of the models indicated that the one-dimensional structure obtained a betteradjustment. Above all, the scale presented positive correlations with behaviors associatedto work-related distributions, processes, and inter-relationships. The psychometric properties of the instrument recommend its future use in investigations to evaluate work engagement in samples with teachers.
