Abstract

SILVA, Dnyelle Souza; BOUSFIELD, Andréa Barbará S.  and  SILVA, Caroliny Duarte da. Social representations of organ donation among university students: dimensions and tensions. Psicol. pesq. [online]. 2019, vol.13, n.3, pp. 193-212. ISSN 1982-1247.  http://dx.doi.org/10.34019/1982-1247.2019.v13.27258.

In Brazil, there is an increase in the number of organ donations, mainly due to the population's awareness of the importance of donation for transplantation. The aim of this study was to know the social representations about organ donation among university students. Three focus groups were conducted, each with five university students, in which a video campaign on the theme was used as a trigger. The participants' speech content was analyzed using the IRaMuTeQ software. The results indicated that the social representations on the theme reveal tensions that carry antagonisms and dualities, such as death and life, losing and saving, besides being associated with fear, insecurity and distrust regarding the process.
