Abstract

This qualitative research aimed to understand the biopsychosocial factors in the life context of six sex workers who work in medium and small cities, based on the Biopsychosocial Model to understand the life process and its influences on women who practice the sex profession. Data collection was performed using the sociodemographic questionnaire and the life history method, adopting thematic content analysis for data treatment. The results obtained were related to factors involving the biological, psychological and social fields. The research allowed the understanding of the life history of these women, highlighting the occurrence of difficulties and suffering.
