Abstract

PASSOS E MARTINS, Heloisa  and  QUADROS, Laura Cristina de Toledo. Music as a therapeutic agent in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Psicol. pesq. [online]. 2021, vol.15, n.1, pp. 1-22. ISSN 1982-1247.  http://dx.doi.org/10.34019/1982-1247.2021.v15.29081.

Alzheimer's disease (AD), the most common cause of dementia (major neurocognitive disorder), is taking up more space as society ages. Studies show that the biomedical view and the use of drugs often do not cover the problems arising from the disease, and the search for alternatives other than medication and exclusion of the patient is promising. It is for this purpose that the present work proposes: to discuss about the influence of music as a therapeutic potential for Alzheimer's patients. Thus, the aim was to review the latest studies on the subject and propose possible reflections that may contribute to a better understanding of music therapy in AD.
