Abstract

DIAS, Luciano  and  CANAVEZ, Fernanda. Racism and the social ascension of black people in Brazilian democracy. Psicol. pesq. [online]. 2022, vol.16, n.1, pp. 1-24. ISSN 1982-1247.  http://dx.doi.org/10.34019/1982-1247.2022.v16.32542.

This article's purpose is to problematize the social ascension of the black subject as an index that confirms the existence of racism in the country and, at the same time, points to an obstacle in the effectiveness of democratic construction. We start from a critique of the myth of racial democracy, which makes modes of subjectivation characterized by degradation and servility, to indicate the importance of the inclusion of Psychology in the debate about race relations in the country.
