CORDEIRO, Neylla Cristhina Pereira; DIAS, Talita Pereira  e  SA, Lucas Guimarães Cardoso de. Social skills analysis of institutionalized and non-institutionalized children and adolescents. Psicol. pesq. [online]. 2022, vol.16, n.2, pp. 1-23. ISSN 1982-1247.  http://dx.doi.org/10.34019/1982-1247.2022.v16.32568.

The literature points out that weakened family ties can be related to deficient repertoires of social skills in children and adolescents. Searching for empirical evidence for that, we analyzed the social skills repertoire of institutionalized children and adolescents, comparing it to those not institutionalized. Sixty-one children and adolescents, as well as their parents or caregivers, responded to the Social Skills Rating System applied in host institutions and a private school. The results showed that institutionalized children and adolescents had a lesser repertoire of social skills and more behavior problems than non-institutionalized ones.
