Abstract

ALENCAR, Patrícia Palombini de  and  CALDAS, Heloisa. The boy who died on the internet: language’s reach and limit for the contemporary subject. Rev. Estud. Lacan. [online]. 2010, vol.3, n.4, pp. p-pp. ISSN 1983-0769.

This paper tries to discuss some of the contemporary language paradoxes found in the excessive use of language in its attempt to say everything. We consider it according to the psychoanalytical Lacanian theory which points out the impossibility of language and meaning to comprehend everything in the world. Thus, psychoanalytical knowledge about language in its reach and limits, such as those of the real in sex and death enigmas, can help us think these language paradoxes as illustrated in the news about a boy who committed suicide on line assisted by a suicidal site on the internet.

Keywords : Psychoanalysis; Language; Object a; Drive; Real.
