Abstract

DANZIATO, Leonardo Barreira. Lacanian considerations on Freud's Verneinung. Contextos Clínic [online]. 2012, vol.5, n.1, pp. 37-44. ISSN 1983-3482.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4013/ctc.2012.51.04.

The author develops a free reading of the Lacanian concept of Verneinung found in Freud's article "The Negative". Taking up the entire historical theoretical and clinical debate around the issue, he demonstrates the structural nature of this mechanism, as suggested by Freud, as originating in the production of thought and, in the Lacanian tradition, for the constitution of the subject, distinguishing it from others suggested by Freud, such as Verdrängung,Verleugnung and Verwerfung. The author develops this pathway by bringing near Freudian and Lacanian propositions, without disregarding the differences of the two works, but making use of a theoretical freedom in his reading, which is necessary to his argument. He attempts, therefore, to present the clinical consequence of this debate, as other aspects relevant to understand the structural logic of the relationship between the unconscious and the realm of language.

Keywords : Verneinung; clinical structures; subject; thought.
