Abstract

CRAUSS, Renata Maria Gardin  and  ABAID, Josiane Lieberknecht Wathier. Chemical addiction and the hospital detoxification treatment in the speech of the users. Contextos Clínic [online]. 2012, vol.5, n.1, pp. 62-72. ISSN 1983-3482.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4013/ctc.2012.51.07.

The objective of this work was to identify, from a qualitative research design and cross-perceptions of drug on the hospital to carry out detoxification. Participants were 12 users aged between 19 and 57 years old who underwent treatment at a hospital in Rio Grande do Sul, whose length of stay ranged from 3 to 39 days. Semi-structured interviews were used and content analysis was performed. The main results showed the importance given to treatment by users, the desire to return to health, the need for professional support. Expectations after detoxification involve the entrance to an academic area, complementary treatments, overcoming the addition and family relationship. It is concluded that users value the treatment, as well as family involvement, which may contribute to longitudinal studies to ascertain the influence of these variables for therapeutic success.
