SCORSOLINI-COMIN, Fabio. A stool and a divan: reflections on spirituality in the ethnopsychological clinic. Contextos Clínic [online]. 2015, vol.8, n.2, pp. 114-127. ISSN 1983-3482.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4013/ctc.2015.82.01.

The aim of this experience report is to reflect on the practice of professional of Psychology in a Umbanda centre and understand the specifics of clinical ethnopsychology work in this context. From the person-centered approach and ethnopsychology, psychotherapy care reports developed with three mediums in a spirit centre. The discussion was organized in three areas: (i) The construction of the psychological help in the spirit centre: the narrative of an experience; (ii) the spirituality of the psychotherapist; (iii) the spirituality of the customer. In the interventions, the spirituality is valued and heard, allowing to access the client and to receive his/her universe of beliefs and ways of being related to his/her life story as a medium. Broadening the scope of interventions and allowing the spirituality of dimension to be worked in psychotherapy should be evoked from the graduation training, considering it an essential component of personality and including it also as a health resource.
