Abstract

COSTA, Roberta Seles da; SANTOS, Deivid Regis dos  and  SOARES, Maria Rita Zoéga. Group psychological intervention for patients diagnosed with bipolar disorder: a bibliographic revision. Contextos Clínic [online]. 2016, vol.9, n.2, pp. 225-239. ISSN 1983-3482.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4013/ctc.2016.92.08.

Psychology has offered some contribution to improve clinical intervention for people with Bipolar Disorder (BD). The objective of this article was to do an integrative bibliographical revision about group interventions done in Brazil for people with such diagnosis. There was data search on Scielo, Thesis and Dissertation Data, PsycNet and Pubmed. The following descriptors were selected: Bipolar Disorder and Intervention; Bipolar Disorder and Group; Bipolar Disorder and Psychoeducation. The word "Brazil" was added on the international data search for the combinations mentioned above. There were 8 studies recovered and the main topic addressed was Psychoeducation. From the analysis of the studies it was possible to identify information related to two aspects: sessions (quantity, duration, topics addressed, professionals responsible for group development, length of sessions and follow-up, the reference psychological approach and what types of register were used), participants (total quantity, gender and age, inclusion and exclusion criteria and tools applied). Such research pointed out the need for the Psychologist to identify the demands of the population being treated and to establish intervention plans according to them, helping patients to develop behaviors that allow for the intervention to be more effective given the adversities related to the clinical diagnosis as such.

Keywords : Bipolar Disorder; Psychological intervention; Psychoeducation.
