AVILA, Andressa Celente de et al. Association between self-assessment and the analysis of informants about psychopathological symptoms in an adult sample. Contextos Clínic [online]. 2019, vol.12, n.3, pp. 902-920. ISSN 1983-3482.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4013/ctc.2019.123.10.

Self-report scales are characterized by ecological validity, feasibility and ease of application. However, the information might be skewed due to the risks, therefore informants assessment can help. The aim of this study was investigate the relationship between self-report evaluation and the informants assessment to psychopathological symptoms. The sample was composed by 330 adults aged from 18 years to 59 years who responded to an adult self-report and 330 informants filled out an Adult Behavior Checklist. Descriptive and inferential analysis were performed. T-test was conducted for independent groups to compare the results obtained by the respondent and the informant. The size effect was calculated by Cohen's d. Pearson correlation coefficient analysis was performed to investigate the associations between the responses of the scales. The results of this study are corroborated as indicators of psychopathological evaluation between respondents and informants who present differences, which may be an advantage in an assessment process and later help the treatment planning. Information from informants questionnaires are good sources to more accurate diagnosis process.
