Abstract

BACARO, Renata Fernanda; REIS, Maria Elizabeth Barreto Tavares dos  and  GOMES, Andréa Kioko Sonoda. On initiation of treatment: emotions of apprentice psychotherapist in psychoanalytic clinic. Contextos Clínic [online]. 2020, vol.13, n.2, pp. 340-364. ISSN 1983-3482.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4013/ctc.2020.132.01.

During the practice of internships in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, psychotherapists experience the breadth of psychic tangles inherent in clinical consultations. The objective of this study was to identify the emotional experiences of apprentice psychotherapists in initial clinical consultations performed in a psychology teaching clinic. This is an exploratory clinical-qualitative research, with the use of clinical facts. Nine apprentice psychotherapists participated, as well as the patients attended by them. Data were analyzed using the psychoanalytical theoretical framework. As a result, it was possible to identify the presence of the following emotional experiences in the initial clinical consultations: anguish, insecurity, worry, anger and satisfaction. These, in turn, present pertinent aspects related to countertransference phenomena, pointing to the importance of considering them in all the complexity of a work whose object of study is the unconscious.

Keywords : preliminary interviews; clinical practice; psychoanalysis.
