Abstract

KANIGOSKI, Daiane Taís  and  ESCARIO, Silvana. The symbolical behind suicide attempt: a qualitative research. Contextos Clínic [online]. 2020, vol.13, n.2, pp. 619-642. ISSN 1983-3482.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4013/ctc.2020.132.12.

This present report aims to know about the potential manifestation of symbolical messages of the victims through suicide attempts. There is empirically a suspicion of the intention of sharing messages or outcry as in a spectacle by chosen methods. For this research six people participated, all of them assisted by the Center for Psychosocial Support (Centro de Atendimento Psicossocial, CAPS I), with one or more attempts of suicide; as an instrument for data collection, semistructured interviews happened. The data collection occurred inside the dependencies of CAPS I, in individual meetings. Based on analysis with specific material as a guide for research and concepts of prominence and symbol of Jung's theory. The results indicated that in cases where the victim considered someone as responsible for their suffering, one of the chosen elements belonged to the "guilty" person as a tentative of making them feel the guilt. The conflict with a chronic disease happened by a symbolical attempt to cure and comfort. The feeling of negligence appeared in the act of withdrawing from social conviviality to execute a suicide attempt.

Keywords : suicide attempt; qualitative research; symbolism.
