Departing from the experience at a residence for psychotic patients belonging to the mental health system of Betim - MG, our aim is to expose and analyze our own practice, which seeks the contributions of the Lacanian orientation. This residence device is considered by the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform as “social support” and focuses on the ideal of social insertion and the citizenship of its users. In order to go beyond this ideal, our work relies on the principles of psychoanalysis, among these individual ethics, to guide the collective practice. Using psychoanalysis orientation as guidance, we consider that in the everyday life of a residence the clinical problematics is inseparable from the subject´s social context. This condition allows situations which favor the construction of solutions for each subjective structure, inducing more possibilities for social bonding. This way, everyday pragmatics, if taken from the clinical standpoint, may allow more possible arrangements with life.
