Abstract

GUANAES, Carla  and  MATTOS, Augustus Tadeu Relo de. The reflexive group in the education of healthcare professionals: a social constructionist approach. Gerais, Rev. Interinst. Psicol. [online]. 2008, vol.1, n.1, pp. 79-85. ISSN 1983-8220.

We aim at describing the use of the Reflexive Group Technique in the education of primary healthcare professionals, based on a social constructionist approach. We describe conversational processes that take place in the group, which allow individuals to develop critical stances on meanings of health, illness and care, that influence their practices and sustain their personal positions. We argue that the Reflexive Group Technique favors the link between theoretical issues and experiences that take place in health assistance, thus contributing to professional education in the context of primary healthcare.

Keywords : social constructionism; medical education; health; primary healthcare.
