Rumination and reflection are different kinds of thoughts in which everybody engages in some measure. The literature points out that different combinations of rumination and reflection are associated with personality traits and psychopathology symptoms. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship among ruminative and reflective thinking, subjective well-being (life satisfaction, positive and negative affect), dimensions of Neuroticism (vulnerability, anxiety, depression and psychological maladjustment) and sex. The Participants were 361 undergraduate students (48,5% female, mean age = 19,9 years) who The students answered the instruments in groups in their classrooms. The results showed that rumination predicted approximately 6% of the life satisfaction variance and 19% of the negative affect variance. Correlations between depression, anxiety, and vulnerability were found. These results corroborate the main findings described in the literature although the finding of higher correlations of rumination with anxiety rather than with depression are unusual.
