The Unified System of Social Assistance (SUAS) operates through the Social Assistance Reference Centers (CRAS), public spaces of the government responsible for the provision of services of Basic Social Protection of a preventive nature. The aim of this paper is to discuss the work of the psychologist in CRAS/SUAS, based on the field experience in two small municipalities of the state of Minas Gerais/Brazil. The expectation is to promote a discussion on the insertion of such professional in this new context.
