This study reports the practice of the psychologist in the Unified System for Social Assistance (SUAS), including the possibilities, challenges, and limitations of the interventions. From the references of the broadened clinical practice, of the public policies, and of the practice of the psychologist in crisis situations, the importance of the interdisciplinary work and intersectoral actions for the rupture of the cycle of violence, protection, and development of the users were highlighted. The importance of the rupture from individualizing, hegemonic, and traditional theories was evidenced so that actions which derive from the reality of the practice and which are built jointly with the subjects are proposed.
