Abstract

AZEVEDO, Luciana Fernandes de Medeiros. Identifying technologies of a legal device and their effects on the construction of a deviant biography. Gerais, Rev. Interinst. Psicol. [online]. 2012, vol.5, n.2, pp. 223-235. ISSN 1983-8220.

This paper is a theoretical study on Nerve Disease as an incorporated suffering and its impact on the practice of health care. The human body while being disciplined through power relations and institutionalization of social standards and behaviors expresses the materialization of suffering originating from living conditions. Most practices in primary health care are permeated by concepts, meanings, and beliefs that health professionals and users have about health, disease, the body and suffering. Focusing only on the symptoms contributes to the fact that the political, socio-cultural aspects present in the complaints are hidden as well as being functional for the maintenance of the biomedical model. However, health care practices may be harmless when political and politicizing discussions in health services are not mentioned. Therefore, there is the need to include in the daily life of services an area of discussion on these themes.

Keywords : Body; Care Practices; Embodied Suffering; Nerve Disease.
