This study aims to present the technique of content analysis spanning the discussion between theory and practice in social research applied to formal organizations. It begins with a lecture of quantitative and qualitative methods, presents qualitative research in the observation of classical authors in the area and introduces the method of content analysis based on Bardin (2011). Then the study pragmatizes the technique exemplifying same with social research in formal organizations, emphasizing the three stages of applicability. Finally, the integration of the technique in qualitative research showing the importance of its use in research in social matters is discussed
