In this article we developed a group case study carried out through the therapeutic resource of the photonovel in a public health institution with patients with mental health problems. We analyzed the process and content produced by the patients as concerns crime and madness in a Foucaultian perspective. We discussed how the historical construction of the concepts of crime and madness and their respective relationships with justice and psychiatry permeated this therapeutic process. Also analyzed were the vicissitudes of verbal and imagery forms involved in photonovel starting from psychoanalytic elements
