Abstract

ANDRADE, Márcia Campos  and  COSTA-ROSA, Abílio da. The relation between madness and labour: concepts and practices in historical perspective. Gerais, Rev. Interinst. Psicol. [online]. 2014, vol.7, n.1, pp. 27-41. ISSN 1983-8220.

This paper focuses on the relation between madness and labour in mental healthcare models. These models have been historically constructed and have produced the concepts and practices of attention and care, mainly in the mainstream of labour. This paper aims at understanding, through a series of theoretical studies, the concepts and practices produced at the birth of Psychiatry; in Social and Sector Psychiatry as well as in Institutional Psychotherapy in France; in the Italian Democratic Psychiatry and in the Psychiatric Reform in Brazil. In addition, it investigates the connection between Mental Health and Solidarity Economy in Brazilian reality, advocated by the III National Mental Health Conference 2001 and founded as an intersectoral policy of social inclusion through labour, in 2004. We will focus on the existing micropolitics of the process which constitutes self-manageable collective labour in the attention models of Mental Health

Keywords : Madness; Labour; Mental Health; Solidarity Economy.
