Considering the five decades of Psychology as a profession in Brazil, it is opportune to know the students who are studying, as well as their ideas and professional projects. This research aims at understanding how future psychologists conceive their professional choice and what their expectations of the career are. This qualitative, exploratory investigation involved semi-structured interviews with 91 students from a private higher education institution. The results pointed out a conception of Psychology associated with both a help condition and a perspective of disclosure of the human being. The respondents think that the professional exercise shows great potentialities due to the presence of a wide range of spaces for practice, but they identify some discrimination of psychologists and those who pursue Psychology
