From an internship experience in psychology supervised by one of the Reference Centers for Social Assistance (CRAS) in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina (SC) the purpose of this article is to contribute to the debate on the role of the psychologist in the National Social Assistance Policy. During the internship the monitoring of home visits conducted by psychologist was carried out, among other things, and the experience with these visits is the focus of discussion in this article. This experience is the proposal of actions committed to the transformation of reality and of the self as a subject and professional, supported by a critical perspective, ethics and aesthetics
