Abstract

PIMENTA, Stéfany Bruna Brito  and  CALDAS, Rafaela Sousa. Introductory study as to the development of infant perception in Vigotski. Gerais, Rev. Interinst. Psicol. [online]. 2014, vol.7, n.2, pp.179-187. ISSN 1983-8220.

This article briefly discusses Vygotsky's concept of perception and its development in infancy (1-3 years). It was elaborated through the bibliographic revision of the author's publications and present-day articles about human development. It presents studies by Vygotsky, from precursor experiments that aimed at understanding perceptual functioning, and discusses the contributions of cultural-historical Psychology to the understanding of this psychological function during childhood. For the author, perception is closely related to other psychological functions starting with their development from biological structures up to the progressive differentiation and improvement by social mediation. Cultural-historical psychology points to the need to seek understanding of the many psychological functions due to considering their constant process of development, their mutual influences and their cultural foundations.
