The quality of life of workers in the judiciary public system is as yet an unknown subject issue. In the present study the focus is on identifying and understanding the meaning of work and the quality of life of workers in that institution. Sixteen workers participated in two focus groups, one with just public prosecutors and the other mixed categories of workers. A content analysis was performed on the discourses collected. Difficulties were encountered such as depersonalization, abandonment, difficulties in relation to other categories, disability in management, occupational stress, and suppression of off-duty and lack of motivation to work. Companionship and complicity among colleagues was also reported as well as some alleviation of occupational stress by the stability offered and the perceived social relevance of the work.
