Abstract

VILELA, Thaísa  and  BARROS, Vanessa Andrade de. The payback in drug trafficking work retailer. Gerais, Rev. Interinst. Psicol. [online]. 2016, vol.9, n.2, pp. 162-181. ISSN 1983-8220.

The discussions presented in this document are part of a research carried out throughout the Psychology Master's degree program. Under the theoretical /methodological perspective of the Work Psychology, we seek to analyze the functioning of the retail drug trade in a micro-region of Minas Gerais, aiming at understanding the activity of "payback". We worked with in-depth interviews with people who were involved in drug traffic retail, in addition to an observation period. The results of the research showed a scenario in which the act of killing is naturalized, instrumented and made into spectacle, with significant implications for the structure of a working organization and for the recognition of their workers. The use of lethal violence, in the 'payback' format, which for decades had been connected to private vendettas, followed the changes in drug traffic management and now seems to correspond to a requirement of the job.
