SILVA, Winnie Gomes da; ROLIM, Rossana Gecília Bezerra  and  MAZOLI, Wayne de Holanda. Reflections on the neuropsychological process of people with high skills/giftedness. Gerais, Rev. Interinst. Psicol. [online]. 2016, vol.9, n.2, pp. 195-210. ISSN 1983-8220.

Above Average Capabilities/Gifted people (AH/SD) are identified with a higher level of intelligence. However, new theories have overcome the cognitive capabilities and now approach issues such as motivation and creativity. The Neuropsychology, as an interface between the neural-function and psychological issues, is a field of knowledge which aims at studying these new conceptions of intelligence. The purpose of this literature critical review is to approach the neuropsychological mechanisms of people identified with Above Average Capabilities. The study found that the Neuropsychology studies still focus on cognitive skills, demonstrating a lag in studying the other AH/SD. Studies are needed in order to investigate the neural-function activity of motivation, creativity and artistic abilities in individuals with AH/SD, in addition to the connection with cognitive abilities.
