Abstract

ROCHA, Rosangela Malard Neves; SOUZA, Pauliana Carolina De  and  BITTAR, Cléria Maria Lobo. Reports on the perception of pregnancy for a group of adolescents and young women. Gerais, Rev. Interinst. Psicol. [online]. 2017, vol.10, n.1, pp. 59-68. ISSN 1983-8220.

The objective of the study was to understand the perception of teenager pregnancy by a group of adolescents from the city of Paracatu-MG. A qualitative study was carried out in a Family Health Strategy (ESF) unit with seven pregnant women under the age of 19 in May 2011. The study consisted of an initial interview and three group meetings in which issues were discussed about pregnancy and the feelings generated from the finding of it. In the initial interviews, they all said they had already used some contraceptive method, but at conception they said they did not care about the possibility of pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases. Five acknowledged that if they had had more guidance, they would not have been pregnant at this time. Although most said they had accepted pregnancy, ambiguous feelings of anger, fear, fear and even thinking about abortion were considered. They recognized the importance of family and partner support for this. In view of the above, it is important to think of a model of care that considers the necessities of this group, with their expectations, longings, doubts and beliefs, so that the orientation and care in health care are possible in its integral form.
