Abstract

MORAES, Maria Eduarda Freitas; ROSO, Adriane  and  LARA, Michele Pivetta de. Gender as a category of analysis in brazilian studies on women and crack consumption. Gerais, Rev. Interinst. Psicol. [online]. 2018, vol.11, n.1, pp. 11-25. ISSN 1983-8220.  http://dx.doi.org/10.36298/gerais2019110103.

The goal of this research was to (re)construct the practices of crack use among women, based on empirical research sustained by the 'gender' analytical category. It is a quantitative-descriptive study, based on a theoretical review of 30 publications in two databases, in the approximate period of 15 years. The analysis was developed in two steps. Step 1: descriptive statistics, using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) in order to identify the general characteristics of the articles (quantitative and qualitative variables). Step 2: qualitative analysis according to the "gender" analytical category. We observed that the articles recognize women as a specific population that consumes crack, however, most of them do not look at the women/crack relation through the lenses of the 'gender' analytical category. We noted that this relation is basically considered as a health matter and not a psychosocial issue.

Keywords : Women; Gender; Drugs.
