Abstract

AMBROSIO, Laís de Almeida; JARDIM, Adriano Pereira  and  SOUZA, Mariane Lima de. Dialogy, self and external locus of identity in protestant pastors. Gerais, Rev. Interinst. Psicol. [online]. 2018, vol.11, n.1, pp. 61-78. ISSN 1983-8220.  http://dx.doi.org/10.36298/gerais2019110106.

Among the many consequences of the dialogical self-theory, the notion of identity positions appears as an interesting explanatory model of the relationship between dialogic identity and conscious reflexivity. Nevertheless, the relationship between self and identity is a complex phenomenon that requires further investigation, preferably in a range of contexts. The aim of this study was therefore to describe the identity positions of Protestant pastors, focusing on the self/identity relationship. Therefore, we conducted a qualitative study, following the criteria of semiotic phenomenology. Eight Protestant pastors answered an adapted version of the Tarefa de Articulação Dialógica. The results suggest a peculiar operation of reflectivity in these individuals, wherein the internal dialogue generates an external identity locus. We discuss how personal identity is seen through the prism of a hyper-generalized perception, expressing a sense of pervasive personal unit similar to the imagined space populated by different positions of the self.
