This article describes an experience report developed with waiting room groups in the Rede Feminina de Combate ao Câncer. The psychologist work in health institutions and in the waiting rooms of these sites makes effective promotion and health education. Therefore, the aim is to present an account of this experience with a view to the importance of work in institutions that prioritize full understanding of health and reflection interventions in these contexts. Techniques of group dynamics were used and, later, the field diary was followed. It is observed that the intervention made possible a space of reception and exchange of experiences on health practices. The intervention with groups in the waiting room contributed to the reflection about the meanings and modes of care, for the professional practice of Psychology and for the better quality of the services provided within the initiatives in public policies.
