Abstract

IMBRIZI, Jaquelina Maria; MOREIRA, Maria Inês Badarô  and  KINKER, Fernando Sfair. From open classes to open university: reflections on mental health, arts & territory. Gerais, Rev. Interinst. Psicol. [online]. 2019, vol.12, n.1, pp. 175-189. ISSN 1983-8220.  http://dx.doi.org/10.36298/gerais2019120113.

This article proposes a theoretical reflection on the unconventional use of university space for an activity called Open Class on Mental Health. For that purpose, we present the history of this activity and analyze the event that occurred in 2015. In this analysis, we intend to reflect on the relationship between health care, art and territory. Thus we made progress on the following understandings: 1. art may be a trigger of issues for the subject; 2. art is politics, inasmuch as it interferes in spaces of coexistence in the city; 3. art is a cultural manifestation which allows the formation of subjects more open to different ways of life; 4. art may be a participation which invites the subject to desecrate the sacred; 5. art may be a device that breaks apart hierarchical spaces; 6. art is fertile ground for the production of new meanings regarding mental suffering.

Keywords : Mental health; Arts and territory; Education.
