Abstract

SILVA, Victor Hugo Peretta Leite  and  JUHAS, Thiago Robles. The psychosomatic phenomena in obsessive neurosis in a hospital outpatient clinic: a case study. Gerais, Rev. Interinst. Psicol. [online]. 2019, vol.12, n.2, pp. 356-370. ISSN 1983-8220.  http://dx.doi.org/10.36298/gerais2019120211.

This study aimed to investigate the subjective repercussions of a patient affected by myasthenia gravis, a neuromuscular disease of autoimmune origin, in the context of a hospital outpatient clinic, guided by the psychoanalytic approach. During the analysis with the patient, the diagnostic hypothesis of a neurotic structure was raised, and the clinical type being the obsessive neurosis. From the report of the patient's life story, it was found that the impossibility of working through a traumatic event could become the source of an anguish with repercussions in the body, that is, the psychosomatic phenomena. In such cases, the health psychologist guided by the psychoanalytic theory needs to intervene so that the suffering is not restricted to a bodily dimension, but has its way through the talking, seeking to bring out the subjectivity which is covered by the medical discourse.
