Abstract

SILVA, Thomas Josué. Artistic creations and narratives: ethnographic experiences in the field of psychosocial care. Cad. Bras. Saúde Ment. [online]. 2016, vol.8, n.20, pp. 24-44. ISSN 1984-2147.

This article is an ethnographic experience in the field of psychosocial care in the context of psychiatric deinstitutionalization in Brazil. The research has been developed through an iconographic device constituted by ethnomethodology (paintings, drawings and creations of images) of Mental Health users that raised a reflection under a social anthropological perspective, dimensions about psychiatric deinstitutionalization, medicalization of the mental suffering experience, forms of mental health treatment and biographies. These are themes present in the study of verbal and visual narratives made by the survey informants.
