The psychiatric reform is a milestone in the organization of mental health policy in Brazil. It is characterized by the transformation of the care design centered on hospitalization in psychiatric hospitals for the territorial basis. Psychosocial Care Centers - Alcohol and Other Drugs (CAPS - AD) are services and treatment reference for people who abuse of psychoactive substances. The therapeutic workshops are group activities that promote high social and family integration, expressiveness, physical abilities development, productive activities engagement and collective exercise of citizenship. Art can be used as a tool to en hace this process. Art increase the perception, recover the self-esteem and awake the creativity of individuals. This article is the experience of an art workshop with users of a CAPS AD, located in Fortaleza / Ce. The aim is to describe the activities developed in this workshop, which facilitated the promotion of skills and abilities to occupational performance of these users. The group was composed by eight users, in average, and mediated by two professionals. The workshops took place weekly and the activities and the users considerations, about the metings, were transcribed by professional in a notebook. The workshop "Pirulitoches" - construction of a play through puppets - promoted the empowerment and enhancement particular forms of the users by a free process of creating. Moreover the "Pirulitoches" improved emotional balance and minimizing the negative effects of drug abuse.
