Abstract

CASTRO, Fernando de. The definition problem of 'psychological' in Wanderley Codo's and his collaborators' studies about psychological pain and work. Rev. Psicol., Organ. Trab. [online]. 2003, vol.3, n.1, pp. 111-133. ISSN 1984-6657.

The present research studies the definition of psychological used by Brazilian authors based on historical materialism in researches about psychological pain and work in brazil. The investigated material consisted of books and articles about this issue. The analysis has revealed the use of a definition of psychological that, in essence, is not different from the notion of analytical perspective. Therefore, the theoretical sources have shown to abandon the boundaries of 'praxis' and of historical materialism while the definition of psychological has shown not to go beyond what has already been studied by Brazilian researchers working in the area of psychological pain and work. We have concluded, then, that the Brazilian authors based on historical materialism conduct a social criticism toward psychological pain in the workplace, but their definition of psychological does not correspond to the technical and scientific objectives and needs claimed by historical materialism in relation to psychology
