Abstract

The objective ofthis study was constructing an instrument of measurement and to identify the components of organizational climate. A set of 127 items was constructed in order to cover ali aspects of construct that was identified at the literature and in accordance psychometric standards. A total of 1244 workers of public companies and private had answered to the questionnaire. The data was submitted to component analysis with Varimax rotation. The results revealed five factors or components composed by 63 items with loads bigger or equal 0,40. The eigenvalues were bigger or equal 1,5 and reliability among 0,78 and 0,92. The five components explicated 34,8% ofthe total variance. The components called "support ofleader and organization", "reward", "physical comfort", "control/pressure of work" and "cohesion among peers". The results partly confirmed structure pointed on previous studies. The implications of conclusions were discussed by confrontation of the findings of the literature of the area
